Hello again everyone from a small hotel room in Minneapolis. It has been a long time since I have last posted. As you can all tell, the last few weeks haven’t gone so well, at least as far as the fitness/diet go. I’m not going to start putting excuses on the downward spiral that has taken place recently, there are just a ton of contributing factors. i have had only about 4 days off the first 3 weeks of this month, and there have been about 350 furloughs at work. Please remember those guys and gals in your prayers as they are now jobless.
As I sat in my hotel room tonight tearing up a mound of Outback cheese fries, I found an old picture of me from a few years ago when I started running on my days off and in the matter of just a couple months I lost about 40 lbs. That wasn’t even with a “crash” diet or touching weights. Anyhow, that picture made me realize how it used to be when I looked in the mirror and liked what I saw. No, I’ll never be Brad Pitt with the perfect chiseled abs, but I can at least feel good and healthy and maybe one day enjoy going to the mall with my wife (I’m way embarassed by my sizes right now….).
This all led to me throwing away the few fries that were left, going downstairs and hitting the treadmill for about 30 mins. Although I HIGHLY don’t recommend hopping on a treadmill after eating 5 lbs of fat and grease, I sit here and type this with a smile on my face. Why? Because tonight, I regained control of my life. And although I only burned off 200 of the 1500 calories I had previously inhaled, I got back on track tonight. I am starting this program http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml and hope to run with my sis in a 5k this fall. I haven’t been on a scale lately for fear of what I might have gained since I last posted. Some people smoke, some people drink when things get rocky. I just eat junk food.
Off to start my healthier and happier life!
