Back at it Again

Yes, so I’m back here at it again.  Why does it seem like all my blogs are “back to it” blogs?  Well, anyhow, no excuses, it’s my own fault.  The holiday’s brought there normal 1-2 punch at I hit the Wii at ALMOST 300 lbs.  Not quite 300, but almost.  300. Three and two big zeros.  A place I swore I’d never be.  I started paying a little more attention to my weight (working out once or twice a MONTH) but didn’t get far.  In the past few weeks it has been much warmer and I’ve been outside a lot.  I enjoy the warm weather and outside activities.  I decided to step on to the Wii Fit Plus Board and low and behold I had unknowingly dropped 8 lbs.  I hadn’t really “tried”, but it happened and it was progress and now I’m ready to rock and roll.  I decided to compete in a 5k the end of May so here we go!  I also bought a Harley a couple weeks ago, and refuse to be a hog on a hawg.

Back at it! :)

Feeling good today….had a great big breakfast…1,500 calories worth, so I have to be careful with what I eat the rest of the day…low cal/low carb if possible, but I think Subway will probably be the answer with some sliced almonds.  Feeling great now after 30 mins on the elliptical here at the Radisson HSV.  It was so warm in there I was sweating like a pig.  Would like to hop on the treadmill, but I have to be on the van in about 30 mins.  Oh well, it’s a good mid day workout after a poor breakfast this morning with sausage and biscuits (my biggest breakfast weakness).   Have a long day today, so hopefully I can grab a 12 inch turkey subway sandwich and eat half for lunch, half for dinner…we shall see.  Newark, NJ tonight!

Dec 26

Well, I’m back at it once again…..going through with it all this time.  I am bak, and stronger than ever.  I have found that using fitday.com really helps me keep track of my calories and carb intake.  Here we go again!

Great day today until we got to the overnight….crew wanted to grab a quick bite on the way in and the van driver stopped at Taco Bell…probably my biggest fast food weakness.  3 crunchy tacos and a new Bacon Cheddar crunch later and I’m 600 calories deep before bed.  Oh well, today was mostly a success after starting out on rocky ground (Cap’n Crunch Berries).

A fresh start!

Hello again everyone from a small hotel room in Minneapolis.  It has been a long time since I have last posted.  As you can all tell, the last few weeks haven’t gone so well, at least as far as the fitness/diet go.  I’m not going to start putting excuses on the downward spiral that has taken place recently, there are just a ton of contributing factors.  i have had only about 4 days off the first 3 weeks of this month, and there have been about 350 furloughs at work.  Please remember those guys and gals in your prayers as they are now jobless.

As I sat in my hotel room tonight tearing up a mound of Outback cheese fries, I found an old picture of me from a few years ago when I started running on my days off and in the matter of just a couple months I lost about 40 lbs.  That wasn’t even with a “crash” diet or touching weights.  Anyhow, that picture made me realize how it used to be when I looked in the mirror and liked what I saw.  No, I’ll never be Brad Pitt with the perfect chiseled abs, but I can at least feel good and healthy and maybe one day enjoy going to the mall with my wife (I’m way embarassed by my sizes right now….).

This all led to me throwing away the few fries that were left, going downstairs and hitting the treadmill for about 30 mins.  Although I HIGHLY don’t recommend hopping on a treadmill after eating 5 lbs of fat and grease, I sit here and type this with a smile on my face.  Why?  Because tonight, I regained control of my life.  And although I only burned off 200 of the 1500 calories I had previously inhaled, I got back on track tonight.  I am starting this program  http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml  and hope to run with my sis in a 5k this fall.  I haven’t been on a scale lately for fear of what I might have gained since I last posted.  Some people smoke, some people drink when things get rocky.  I just eat junk food.

Off to start my healthier and happier life!

August 3

Well, this morning started off pretty bad.  I went downstairs and they had a free breakfast.  There were biscuits and gravy, danishes, and cinnamon rolls.  Unfortunately, the junk food won this morning.  However, the rest of this morning I sat here in the room studying and trying to do some research for workouts and “healthy eating plans”.  I’m not going to use the “D” word anymore(diet….).   Anyhow, I did a brief “workout” if you will here in the hotel room in Austin.  I did about a 5 min variation of jumping jacks, mountain climbers, pushups, situps, and some jogging in place.  A life changing workout?  No, but I think I am headed down the right path.  I also have downed about a liter of water this morning, and it’s only 1030.  Well, off to work…Cleveland then Savannah.  Hopefully I can squeeze a salad in sometime today.

Here I go!

Well, here I am. This is my first ever blog. I figure if post things publicly, then maybe it will help keep me motivated to stay on the ball. I have tried losing weight many times. It has become difficult now with me being on the road so much. As an airline pilot, I am on the road usually 4 sometimes 5 days a week, and with short overnights and airport fast food, it is difficult to stick to a good diet. And, at the end of the day, I usually don’t have much motivation to go and workout when I only have 10 hrs til my alarm goes off.

Anyway, I’m here to give this a try and try to keep up my motivation and hitting towards my goals!

Thanks for reading and here we go!
